My passion is to fully participate in God’s justice-making transformation of this world and to engage as many other people as possible in that work. I use my position to announce that mission every chance I get. I have learned to claim the authority of my voice.

About the Author

The Reverend Shannon Kershner’s studies of courageous women in scripture inspired her to tackle issues of equality within the realm of religious institutions. One of relatively few women pastors of large, mainline churches, Shannon doesn’t shy away from potentially controversial issues and voices her thoughts fearlessly. Her sermons are published in the Journal for Preachers and Lectionary Homiletics. She is also a renowned speaker. Shannon earned her Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary where she was bestowed the Columbia Leadership Award.
